Here are just a few of the benefits of Cardiac Wellness Yoga:

HEALING FLOW YOGA: With the intention to connect mind, body and spirit through yoga practice, Rhonda includes breathing exercises to calm the mind and help lead the body to movement into the physical postures, finishing each session with relaxation and meditation. You will experience connecting the flow of movement to the opening of our major chakras (energy centres) to bring awareness to the release of emotional, mental and physical toxins. Students of all levels are welcome and invited to practice only to the extent of their own comfort, of what feels good in their body at that particular time. There is no competition, no judgement, and no expectations of achieving the full extension of any posture if your body is not there– only the opportunity to be in the moment, focus inward, and find your “edge” of a pose that will offer you improved flexibility, posture and balance (mentally and physically) the more you practise.
THERAPEUTIC YOGA: Therapeutic Yoga is an extremely effective practice for those recovering from, or living with, injury or illness. Therapeutic yoga blends gentle and restorative yoga, breathing techniques, guided meditation and relaxation. Therapeutic Yoga is gentle yet effective for bringing the body into balance and reducing stress. Therapeutic Yoga benefits anyone looking for a gentle yoga class but especially those with injuries, illness and limitations. Some of the benefits of adding a regular yoga practice are: improved quality of sleep, increased muscle strength, a reduced level of arthritic and chronic pain, lower blood pressure and blood sugar levels, weight management, improved breathing, increased flexibility and joint range of motion, plus many more. Therapeutic yoga focuses on breathing, meditation and stretching rather than athletic moves.
RESTORATIVE YOGA: Restorative Yoga is a therapeutic style of yoga which uses props such as bolsters, straps and blocks to safely support the body in various poses which allows the body to move towards a state of balance. Props provide support for the body to completely surrender therefore inducing relaxation. The antidote to stress is relaxation. Relaxation is a state in which there is no movement in the body, no straining in the muscles, and the mind is quiet and peaceful. Typically, restorative poses are sustained for 5-10 minutes or for as long as you are comfortable in the pose. When you are in a chronically stressed state, the body's ability to heal itself may be compromised, inhibiting recovery from injury or illness. Chronic stress may also create a new illness or injury, including high blood pressure, heart disease, immune dysfunction and depression. Restorative Yoga soothes your nervous system, helps you quiet your busy mind and invites you to release deeply held stress and tension.
